I'm Back.
And have music to share.
Firstly, indie-pop band "Ghosts" - - (Myspace) - - debut single "Stay the Night" has been working its way around my head alll week. While just another of a current bombardment of soft indie offerings, it certainly has something which sets it apart from the rest.
MP3: Ghosts - Stay The Night
Brand New Dizzee Rascalllllll...
Nothing more do i need to say. Roll on the new album - "Maths and English" EDIT: The dizzee tune is marked. Mp3 is off the radar unfortunately. However YOU can listen here. Except for holllertronix. haha.
Guilty pleasure of the week has to be in the form of...... Space cowboys rework of Fergy and Ludacris On glamorous.
Heads up to Fluo Kids for this. Hit the link for the mp3's.
Digitalism's New EP has also surfaced. Loving the single, but just as much, i'm loving the mentalism's remix of it. Straight off the EP. Screwing the vocals about and thumping all over the place. P.s can't seem to find where these mentalism guys/girls reside. but make sure you cop the ep. probably best to do it over at Phonica.
MP3: Digitalism - Pogo (Mentalism Remix)
Other areas for checking:
Appletree Records (Who brought you Sotu The Traveller, see previous posts) - combined with DJ Sp to create a series of mixes aptly titled "Apple Tree Smoothies. Volume 1 is available for Free Download from the site. I seriously recommend copping it. Brilliant mix of soul, funk, hiphop and Jazz.
British electro hotshot, Kissy Sell Out, has also been big with me this week. Bags of potential, with already one 12" in circulation, and currently working on an album...i am lovvvvvving his work. His podomatic site gives a number of free mixes for download as well as some damn good bootleg remixes he's done. Make sure you dont sleep on him. HERE.
Be posting much more regularly now. Hope you enjoy and seee you soon.

7 Wonders of The Weekend

First up. More Ben Westbeech. Hopefully your as excited as I am about its release, if not, i suggest you go here.
Well yeah, his albums droppping the end of this month, and from what ive heard it will be a gem. (Check a previous post for another album track). Music that makes you feel good. Going to post probably my favourite track to date by him, a collaboration with drum and bass duo Die and Clipz. Cop the vinyl from his record label brownswood recordings.
Two mixes of it on the vinyl: lovers mix for the more laid back among us. Rockers mix, for those who like it slightly more hectic.
MP3: Ben Westbeech - Get Closer (Lovers Mix)
Next. Looking for my sunday night music fix, i decided to tune into leftfield Rob da Bank in his weekly slot on Radio 1. Just in time to catch Kate Nash's maida vale session. Something i would usually bypass, listening in the dead of night in my favourite pair of headphones, i think ive become a bit of a fan of her. Like lilly allen, but better and more comfortable in the indie spectrum. Particular track that caught my eye was the b side to first single "Carolines A Victim" i think, well anyway, its called Birds. And because I heard it done acoustically first, i think you should too. Even if its not your usual, try it, whats the worst that could happen. . . KATE NASH MYSPACE .
MP3: Kate Nash - Birds (XFM Session)
Again, more music discovered on Rob Da Bank. British hiphop duo Dan le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip, played a very unique session. Wordsmith is Scroobius Pip, Le Sac is the beatmaker. Together it goes pretty well indeed. Please support them, as i believe they have only landed a record deal for the first single. Theyre top guys too. TO hear this session and Kate Nash, listen again to Rob Da Banks show on Radio 1. Check the myspace for details on how to grab one of the limited vinyls. Or downloads.
"Thou shalt not read NME. Thall shalt not stop liking a band just because they’ve become popular. Thou shalt not question Stephen Fry. Thou shalt not judge a book by it’s cover. Thou shalt not judge Lethal Weapon by Danny Glover. Thall shalt not buy Coca-Cola products. Thou shalt not buy Nestle products. Thou shalt not go into the woods with your boyfriend’s best friend, take drugs and cheat on him. Thou shalt not fall in love so easily. "
Mp3: Dan Le Sac Vs. Scroobius Pip - Thou Shalt Always Kill
Been playing this tune a lot recently, unfortunately don't know too much about it, except that its deep and hard, and will be very well received by any electro fans out there. Thanks to Fluokids for this, where you can also grab the song from the link below.
MP3: Prinz & Wallus - Musikgeschichte (Dennis Hurwitz Remix)
Link through Fluokids.
3 To go.
Mark Ronson's Versions draws ever nearer. Luckily enough ive managed to get hold of a single from the album, his take on The Smiths "Stop Me". The single will feature two remixes, both with dubs, from Chicken Lips and Dirty South. The latter being the one that ive been enjoying this weekend. Definetely increased my anticipation for the album. Support him on his myspace, here.
Or pre-order the album here.
Roll on April 6th.
MP3: Mark Ronson - Stop Me (Dirty South Remix)
Following the Switch Remix of "Tell Me", I have come across the Phones Remix. Phones being esteemed Indie producer Paul Epworth (who conincidentally, is producing Kate Nash Album). But yeah, this one shades it for me. Big pounding drums, bellowing synth.
I would put you all a link to grab the single, but i reckon hes got too much money already.
MP3: P. Diddy - Tell Me (Phones Remix)
Im going to leave you with the Justice remix of N.E.R.D "She Wants To Move". Probably my current favourite. No point saying anything else about it, just classic Justice.
MP3: N.E.R.D. - She Wants To Move (Justice Remix)

SunriseSet
I don't really feel like talking today. New Junior Boys EP, titled "Dead Horse EP" landed with me yesterday. I played it through once, and now twice, and it doesn't disappoint. Particular favourite is the veteran Carl Craig's Remix of "Like A Child", a soothing 10 minute trip in which he slowly and classily builds, while draining more soul out of the song than I thought possible. Perfect to watch the sunrise too, and sure to be the a focal point in many sunrise sets this summer.
Make sure you cop the EP - featuring remixes from HOT CHIP, marsen jules, kode9 and Tensnake. Get junior boys stuff here and check their myspace here.
MP3: Junior Boys - Like A Child (Carl Craig Remix)
This week I also came across toronto hiphop/reggae/r&b/soul artist K-OS (pronounced kaos). His latest album titled "Atlantis: Hyms of Disco" is a complete mix of any sound remotely urban, and while not all of it struck the right chords with me, it was well worth some of the gems i came across. See what you think, posting, probably my favourite track off the album, "The Rain". Get his album here.
(No idea why its underlining my text now, but i'l continue)
Check his myspace here
MP3: K-OS - The Rain
Lastly, a track ive loved since its release in 2006. British artist Ben Westbeech, who I will champion until I die, can do no wrong, sounding uniquely soulful yet never a cliche, as this track proves.
Check his myspace here. Purchase his songs here.
MP3: Ben Westbeech - So good Today
Im also super happy because the new maximo park album is currently in my headphones.
Enjoy Your Day, and let me know what you like.
