Brownswood & K-Swiss have teamed up for a quick 3 date tour (so far confirmed) of Europe kicking off on the 26th of October in Amsterdam, before further dates in Paris and Berlin. "Headlining" are Soil & pimp, however Jose James, Elan Mehler and Gilles Peterson will also be performing so pick your own personal headline from there.. Europes out of reach for most of us, but heres to hoping that they add London..
Dates Confirmed so far;
Friday 26th October - Paradiso, Amsterdam
Sunday 28th of October - La Flèche D'or, Paris
Tuesday 30th October - Bohanon, Berlin
More news will no doubt follow.

Y-3 and Factory Records team up to mark both the 25th anniversary of Hacienda Club, and the opening of the first UK Y-3 flagship store. As you'd expect, limited edition to 250 pairs and they are likely to set you back about £345.00. Yeah... so they're not going to be coming my way, but I'l envy the rat who has sufficient paper to fork out that much.
Check out hypebeast for more on the project, including where it's available.

No Qualms
Rafa Benitez anyone?
Anyway, the next release from Wiley's third LP, 'Playtime Is Over', is pencilled in for 22nd of October. With 'Baby Girl' on the B side both tracks have been reworked with appearances from JME, Chipmunk, Skepta and Eska. So far all i've been able to hear is a snippet of the rework of 'No Qualms' but it sounded pretty hot. Go listen to it at RWD.
Coming out on 12" and digitally:
A Side
i) No Qualms Revox
ii) No Qualms original
iii) No Qualms instrumental
B Side
i) Baby Girl revox
ii) Baby Girl original

I previously mentioned this before, here.
The range gets its official release on the 27th via Oki-ni website.
For an exclusive preview, go ahead and check the mini site that has been set up to showcase the range.. Pricing hasn't been given, but i'm guessing its pretty high - so if your skint, or have more love for a nice pair of sneakers than you do self control - it may be better that you don't..

Will.I.Am samples "Get Physical"
Spotted on faderblog;
'...Will.i.am. sampling a seminal Get Physical song is pretty genius. Until he starts rapping.'
The original is brilliant electronic music though, and fairplay to him for digging it out.. Still, I can't see myself being tempted into listening to the whole album..

American Gangster
From what I usually expect, and most of you will agree; 'Kingdom Come' was weak - at minimum, definitely a long way down from the high of the Black Album. However, this is JayZ, for me the greatest of all time, so I sure as hell am excited.
Jay's tenth album is to be something of a concept album based on 'American Gangster' (Nov 2nd) - starring Denzel Washington, Common, Russel Crowe, RZA and T.I.
Taken from NYTimes;
His decision to record “American Gangster” is a surprise, given that his last album was released less than a year ago. “Kingdom Come” sold about 1.5 million copies, his lowest figure for a full studio album since 1997. And its elaborate marketing campaign, including alliances with Budweiser and ESPN, prompted some suggestions that Jay-Z’s branching-out into other business endeavors, and taste for the jet-setting life, had begun to undermine his street credibility.
He made no apologies for his transformation into a global brand. “Jay doesn’t live in Brooklyn any more,” he said. Rather, he ventured that “Kingdom Come” was a little too “sophisticated” for some listeners. “American Gangster,” he said, would be a return to a tougher, more unflinching view of street life.
In “No Hook,” a song on the new album, he says:
Please don’t compare me to other rappers. Compare me to trappers.
I’m more Frank Lucas than Ludacris. And Lude is my dude, I ain’t trying to dis.
Just like Frank Lucas is cool, but I ain’t tryin’ to snitch.
I’m-a follow the rules, no matter how much time I’m-a get.
I’m-a live and die with the decisions that I’m-a pick.

Introducing Lambo Baker Pt.1
A cut above your average aspiring MC.. Meet Lambo Baker.
The Name..
Well, my real name is Ernest Baker. One day I was thinking about other names that would sound dope with Baker. I was thinking of all sorts of ridiculous shit, but Lambo just stuck. I think that's it's weird enough that it's memorable, but not too weird or corny. And even if it is, fuck it.
Location..
I'm from Westchester, Illinois. It's a small little suburb outside of Chicago. I don't think anything influenced Less Than Zero more than growing up in Westchester. My whole life I've been right between the city and the suburbs, between white culture and black culture. I just think that the things I've seen and experienced allow me to make music from a viewpoint that no other rapper does. It's not some crazy hood shit, but it's definitely a lot more than you'd expect.
When did it become apparent that you had a lyrical talent?
It's hard to pinpoint a moment, but I've always appreciated lyrically driven rap, or just music in general. It's easy to get lost in the beats, but lyrics have always been just as big of a deal for me. So I make an effort to be lyrically impressive with anything I write. And I don't mean being the guy who has the craziest similes or wordplay, but being the guy that truly says something that connects with listeners.
What is it about your songs that people can relate to?
I try to be as honest as possible in my songs and I think people, especially other teenagers can relate to it. I talk about trying to look cool for a girl you wanna get at, or wasting all of your money on clothes but still loving how good it feels to get fresh. I talk about experiences in the suburbs and the realities of drug use amongst teenagers. There are so many issues on Less Than Zero that are gonna hit home for other kids out there like me that like 50 Cent or Lil' Wayne, but also have nothing in common with them.
What do you think about the Kanye/50 stuff that's happening right now? What do you think of the state of music in general?
I think music is in a really good place right now. We're witnessing musical history right now with the showdown between Kanye and 50. I love it. The VMA's gave me a lot of hope too. Seeing all of those rap and rock collaborations was dope. I feel like music is changing for the better right in front of our eyes. The Internet is starting to take some of the power away from the labels, and I think we can look forward to a lot more quality, creative music in the next few years.
Who are your biggest inspirations? What would we find if we looked in your iTunes?
Kanye is obviously an inspiration. Graduation is still getting mad spins. That's sad that downloading culture has me saying "still" when the album just came out. M.I.A.'s latest album is my shit. I like the new Rooney a lot. I usually have something from the Clipse in rotation at any given moment. I'm into whatever. Whoever's pushing the boundaries and trying to make something different. I can enjoy the people who aren't as well. I hate music snobs who turn up their nose at anything on the radio. A hit is a hit. I'm gonna have TV On The Radio and Soulja Boy on my playlist, ya dig?
Part.2 coming sooon.
Check the myspace in the meantime.

Kano On The Hook-up
'London Town'. It seems any grime artist looking to branch out and progress his sound is deemed to be a sell out by those writing the reviews these days.. Obviously some kind of new trend, but take no notice.. it's a brilliant listen, keeping kane Robinson at the top of the pile where he belongs + it's always good to see craig david back.. Isn't it?
On course for an entrance to the top 10 on sunday.. Don't need huge amounts of hype to shift units: Kanye and 50 take note.

Skip all the singing, Lets get right tonight

The day is dragging. So heres some pointers..
Pitchfork has (had) a nice interview with Skepta regarding his up coming "Greatest Hits" project, due to drop at the start of next week. Skepta @ Pitchfork.
Over at Stones Throw, Madlibs interview with this weeks Newsweek issue is available here. Truly unbelievable talent.
Brownswood held the "Sunset Sessions" at QEH London, with Portico Quartet, Elan Mehler and Marcina Arnold.. Getting brilliant reviews. . One year anniversary celebrations will take place at "The End" (London), with sets from Westbeech, Peterson, Moodymann among others.. Not to be missed, of course i'l keep you posted.. It's not until October time.
Two new Westbeech remixes have also appeared for digital download - Aaron Ross and Frost/Wagner. See them here
Lastly on the Brownswood front - crooner Jose James highly anticipated album "The Dreamer" is pencilled in for a January release.
BBC Electric Proms is upon us again and the lineup is shaping up pretty nicely.. Post on that later.
Easy to have missed Kano's, 'London Town'.. which came out yesterday. Certainly my pick at the moment, and yes that is including Kanye and 50. Honest, the guy reminds me of a young Jay-z..
Soundtrack to the morning... Jay's Library. Completely and utterly timeless.
