Is it cause they like my Gangster Walk? Gangster Walk?

Mr.1der finally delivers the mix to celebrate all things nate dogg with. . been a long time in the works by the sound of things, but its completely flawless. hit after hit. unknown, & commercial. & obviously the perfect way to celebrate the mans talent. The ultimate and original hook man.

Trust he pulls through his recent medical trouble. .

. . beware the faint hearted. Nate says it like it is.

Brilliant piece of work. . so my congratulations to the man.

Akedam

In stores now. .

P.Y.T

I guess every one got one. . (at the risk of sounding like your local FM sweet talking disc jockey).

Seriously good album for the groovers. . could post a number of tracks. shades of Anthony Hamilton but more accessible to the money market.

Essential #?

one of my Itunes staples for the last couple of weeks has been the debut from ladbroke groves jose carretas on  Jus'House. Also a member of the Restless Soul collective (huge things). . Jose Carretas has quickly been building the portfolio with a slew of releases over the last 2 years.

However the track in question, 'Cutting Me Up' is probably my favourite yet. . with the *esteemed* Kaidi Tatham on keys and the seriously slept on sounds of vocalist Marcus Begg this certainly has the potential to light up those autumn/winter dances.

Been on vinyl for a while. . (juno) & a digital release will be soon coming. Snippets available on the myspaces, & both the label and jose should be watched - forthcoming Mike Dunn material for the former, and something brilliant from the latter on Especial jp. Expect me to be singing the praises for that once I know the details.

grime runnings

Listen Again this morning brought me last nights westwood show in all its glory. .  Alien Music

Trim and Lee Brasco were in attendance.

For the former, it was certainly Rude Kid's production that was shining - & having provided tracks for new projects from Skepta, Tinie Tempah and P money his buzz isn't going to diminish any time soon. UFO remix is definitely worth listening out for! As far as the emcees were concerned, I wasn't too hot on them - saying that I will be going for the Little Nasty mixtape Hungry Season which came out a while back. Thoughts on that soon. .

Getting 2 spins was Chipmunk's lead off single from the forthcoming album. . 'Beast' featuring Loick Essien (?) on the hook. It grew on me.

chips head's too big for his crown

I'm a huge fan of trim, and he, in all fairness, was the only reason I checked the show . . the chat with Westwood was amusing from both sides of the equipment, particularly when Westwood's origins (norwich..) were discussed. (also got a laugh from me when Westwood implied that alien music's dj hadn't appeared because of ramadan).. but yeah Trim, the art work for the last soulfood volume is up above. . and is clearly the most impressive to date. I hope the music is the same but I find it hard to believe he will top the last volume which was just toooo good. won't believe it until it's been in my ears for several months. The production is still far from the norm with t spark and jerzey heavily involved - ( jerzeys myspace for some really nice new bits) , And trim always finds new ways to spin words. . - its almost kinda cute.

As I said last soulfood before the album, then another mixtape series.

'mixtape' doesn't do the work credit.

Listen Again is up if your that way inclined.

I feel I fell away from grime in the last month, but last night (this morning), despite the lack of any realll quality sets, has whetted the appetite. . Any recommendations will be happily received.

only listened to Mike's half of this so far. . . so much to take in though. I have no idea how he makes some of those squeaks & bleeps.

...see the set as a showcase for future releases; 'Gardening EP' on Luckyme, 'Flunky' with Muhsinah on All City aaaaand some flylo remix work coming on the next Ltd. 12 that Warp put out.

this is kinda fractured as i'm doing the day job at the same time so please bear with it.

Guess who's on buttons?

Yancey Boys
coming soon. (November i've been led to believe...)

Theres Me & Theres You

It's late, i'm still at my desk doing the day job so il probably keep this short.

new project from Matthew Herbert is completed and heading our way via the beautiful accidental records (or possibly on k7!). . I don't care. Either way it will be with us on the 28th.

He's teamed up with a big band & a number of vocalists, so taking it somewhere different, and he, in interviews, has labelled this a protest record. Hence the artwork, which I must say i think is pretty unique.

...here's where the fatigue kicks. . . Pitchfork have more.

.......I'l post the tune with eska sometime tomorow.

MYSPACE

KUNIYUKI Remixed

Mule Musiq are going to be packaging all the Kuniyuki remixes that you may have seen on vinyl with some brand new remixes yet to see the light of the day. The project will be out on the 25th of October. Not sure if we're talking vinyl. . think it'l probably be CD.

I thought the last release 'All These Things' was a brilliant listen - so the tracklisting for this has left me pretty excited. much more uptempo than previous work navigating aspects of soulful house and the sound horribly coined 'future jazz'... eugh. the mix works though - really can't wait now. In the mean time though, its worth searching out the 12's - available from all the usual spots and featuring remixes from theo parrish and henrik schwarz. it's pretty much an allstar cast from hereon.

TL;

01. Touch (A Mountain Of One Peyote Remix)
02. All These Things (Theo Parrish Remix)
03. Dear African Sky (Henrik Schwarz Remix)
04. The Session (Kuniyuki Self Remix)
05. Birds (Tony Lionni Remix)
06. Rain Of Ocean (Exclusive New Song)
07. The Session (Cobblestone Jazz Remix)
08. Earth Beats (Chateau Flight Remix)
09. All These Things (Kuniyuki Self Remix)

so i repeat - Kuniyuki Remixed coming from Mule Musiq. 25th October.

Township Funk

it's late. potentially my video of the year.

single out on vinyl september 15th.

crazy.

more money driven craziness in the premier league. . And thats not slating Man City.

congratulations to their fans, its going to be brilliant for any fan of football seeing a player as exciting as robinho doing it week in week out on british soil. But one must ask the question, what's will happen if the sheikhs & Oligarchs continue to use the league as a rich boys playground? I just hope for footballs sake that something is done about the growing inequality in british football, before it becomes solely about money. The transfer window should be scrapped as well.

other congratulations should go out to my team, everton, for finally breaking the transfer duck in the last few days. . fellaini should give the whole squad a boost although I think most of us are unsure as to how good he is. . Also a rumour that we've pre-booked the services of Wagner Love starting January. . ?

& finally an end to the berbatov-united saga. Both teams proving that honesty, and decent business conduct pretty much flies out the window when money is involved. Daniel Levy & Alex Ferguson particularly. Berbasulk gets his way though.

Despite all my complaints -those voiced and those unvoiced, I'm definitely looking forward to the re-commencing of the league after the international break. . . And i'm sure most of you football fans are too.

to non-football fans, I do apologize.

Deviation Tomorow night. .

The deviation crew seem to be going to town on tomorow nights party. . theres a beat-tape for download, and plenty of videos. If your in the area, definitely worth popping your head in I would say.

hit up the deviation blog for more details on the party

also worth checking RBMA's interview with Dorian Concept. . someone who we've all been following for a while here. Seems like he has a number of releases heading to the shelves.

Elzhi

After all the hype i inflicted on you about this - i still haven't checked it. Gasp. 'Europass' is the reason for this - and while that work has got listens left in it, I won't be moving on along to this. His wordplay demands multiple listens full stop.

As soon as I've ive given 'the preface' the attention it deserves, you will be hearing from me on the subject, but at this rate, I wouldnt sit at the pc hitting refresh. It could be weeks, months. .

But in the meantime why don't you provide me with the hype for a change. . Who's checked it? And who's still checking it? > than europass?

MichiganHipHop have a very nice interview with him where he talks about the slum, working with royce, working on the preface. . and in general his plans for the future. Definitely head over via the link, have a read, and give them some props because its the second time they've more than delivered (in my memory) with their interviews (...see Dwele).

Normal service resumed this week.
