New Boxcutter has been spotted a year after the album 'Glyphic' turned my life upside down. A must have which went right off radar for the masses - so although you'd be a year late - give it a try.
His production always leave me astounded, its so stop start, yet it flows seamlessly with stabs of sound rolling over each other without ever quite meeting. It's totally unique, which is why I was so shocked that he didn't receive any buzz outside of dubstep corners a la Burial.
Yet I guess it's not about getting superstar status.
Take a listen. .
Both the full, and the instrumental are available for streaming from here. . and if the vocal doesn't get you, then the instru will.
N.b, this is a white label, so maybe hang around until the artworks been polished off by La Boca.

Sound of '09
If you thought 2008 was Hyperdub's year, maybe think again, because having seen the early part of their 09 campaign. . It's on a different level.
The video - kode9's new piece that will be pressed sometime early next year. Live at Beyond (Geeneus' London Funky Monthly)

The Loud Minority
Line up of the year.
huge moral debate going on in my head about whether to attend this.
Is it frowned on to attend a club on your own?

My Comet
The final addition to All City's mind blowing beat series. . And possibly the best is left to last - with 'My Comet' finally being pressed. Something that is quite easily one of the sweetest glitschy nu soul crossovers i've ever laid my eyes on. Been on my radar since Gilles used it on his beat generation show a long while back. But yeah, it's here. . and thats it. So complete the collection and alll that jazz.
and prepare for the final twist.................

MP3: Ludacris - I Do it for HipHop (Ft. Nas and JayZ)
craaaaazy Nas verse. .
20,000 differentspecies of bees, some have poisonous stings, some just pollinate leaves. . like rap, some just buzz, some will attack. .
mY commercial head suggests chris must have an album on the way.
Where's Your Love
a top-heavy craig david strolls back into the public eye sporting a zip-up cardigan similar to something my brother was digging circa 98.
Gotta hand it to him though. . constantly trend hopping - wasn't he making ballads in Cuba last year?
and the point of this post isn't to sling mud at him. I actually don't mind this. Or maybe its the fact that its bassline, that isnt bassline.
Where is bassline?

Dub Pieces

Digital release today. . . Take it as a necessary pick-up if you haven't at alll been involved with these guys sounds before. Next up for 3024 - 2562 12' in December. Whole lotta numbers. Then roll on into 09 for the Martyn full length. I cant even grasp the amount of hours of headphone time that release is going to get. Just listen to 'yet' on his player.
Pips 003 from Appleblims Applepips see's Jus Wan on the buttons with Action Potential/Affletic (on his player) . . I'm not going to classify what exactly it is, but the A side, on first listen, is by far one of the most interesting electronic pieces ive heard this year. Will be watching anything else from this man, and the label, like a hawk.
+ the 3rd installment of Appleblim's rinse podcasts is up.
------
Also worth checking. .
Peverelist - Clunk Click Every Trip/Gather - new on punchdrunk
Scuba - Twitch/Upside - Jamie Vex'd & Martyn on the remixes. 2nd and clearly standout interpretation of 'A mutual Antipathy's' album tracks. Out on Hotflush.
& somewhere or other there is a Beat Pharmacy album available for listening.
Thats alll I can think off going off the top. . . Even if you aren't normally a fan of this sound, go out on a limb and at least try a 30 second promo snippet, or a myspace player. . You'l be surprised at how far some of these artists have brought the music.

G.O.O.D Music Afterparty Cypha
kanye, mos, nas, consequence, de la soul, damon albarn & Will.I.Am share some stage time at the G.O.O.D music showcase in London the other night.
When Nas came in i'd have lost it. . but I still think that grime has the edge when it comes too pure energy at a live event. .despite it have fallen into a slumber of sorts. Should be some more G.O.O.D news/releases to come by the time the year is out. . Tony Williams. . Big Sean. And of course 808's. .
