Certainly
Scrimshire first came to my attention back in April 2008 where I naively named him 12" of the week. Nearly a year down the line and I've not only realized that no one gives 2 pence about a boy and his blogs release of the week . . but,
... I've also been blessed with some more material from the man.
A 7" inch by the name of 'Certainly' - On side1, another exquisite vocal performance from longtime favourite Inga-Lill Aker. Seriously. And on Side2, Rob Hynd on vocals of a slightly steppier remix from King Knut. Again, beautifully put together.
What makes it so much better is that I know there's a longplayer on the way. If the consistent quality of his prior releases are anything to go by, it could be a little bit special.
Check the man on myspace. Check the release's on juno (digi/physi). And hang tight for the album.

beats are everywhere these days. You can't go three myspace clicks without finding a man plugging his latest offerings. but Only some have got the little bit extra needed for the song to be reverb-ing around the mind so long after listening.

a new path

two very talented individuals come together on this short, self released EP; 'A New Path' - - - >
vocalist LP hailing from NZ beautifully riding the outer planetary beats of Londons k15.
Theres been little to no promotion for this - it's purely about two people lost in music coming together through their sounds.
proving that sometimes simplicity is the best thing.

Foreign Exchange
I'd scream like a bitch to get this live show to the UK.
the videos a bit long, and theres some inaudible chatting in it. . but it kind of gives you an idea of how on point it would be.
The other news with these guys is that THEY'VE ONLY GONE AND DROPPED SOME VINYL
but go slowly on it because I haven't got round to purchasing it yet. And for the real real supporters. You can get signed from Nicolay's store.

Disko
I'm an early riser. but when I wake-up in my current dwelling, it's still too dark not to need a light on. It's not a nice place. And thats without going into the aesthetics of the neighbourhood.
where do I find my comfort?
in my headphones.
and since it's exam time, I've had to ban all music with vocals.
So it was kinda perfect when Nalden slung over Slumgullion's 'Disko' early this morning.
Slumgullion = Dok + SirOj + Kid Nap.
And it's too good to give away for free really.
Thankyou to all involved.

And so the first big one of 2009. Absolutely shell shocked.

NO HYPE
it’s eerie like that documentary on lisa lopez
pentagrams pyramids conspiraspicies with goat heads
knock down the levees
knock down the projects
start another project
build another object
a drive thru touchscreen doctrine for me to digest
just horses with our blinders on
drivin’ by the obvious
ridin’ by the obvious
glidin’ by the ovbious
regardless who you vote for
if the mind dont grow
and the poverty line don’t go
but the dope keep coming
and the tv keep flashing images of a
sports car
then you bound for a coke war
the meek get clowned by the coke law
the sheep get drowned in the folklore
then lulled to sleep by tom brokaw
what a pitty
the hope on a politicians tongue
never ever trickles down the city
so if a nigga put a presidents mask on
and run up in the bank with a mac saying gimme
i aint glad at him
but i aint mad at him
if anybody ask you who i be
say
a painter with a felt pen who drew ali
im like cassius when i blast molasses
out the ass of the masses
from fulton street mall to gratiot
im handin out free at last kits
“yo jay where ya staff at?”
“Green (Lantern) said you threw it”
yeah.
i outgrew it
some blogs said “you blew it”

What You Won't Do For Love
love step love step love step. We can all do without another genre approximation. Thats why I left the two words apart.
Bobby Caldwell. but I guess this gets a bit Baltimore at times. However, I bet when it drops at the dance it works. It goes a bit filter house in a few places too. Never mind.

I play this several times a day.
But I play the L.D. remix several times more. (ON HIS PLAYER)
The information I have received suggests it isn't on the vinyl.
Big shame because it slays the sheer flatness of the dj Swerve remix.

In Search Of Hope

You Need this.
People are right; it's particularly short. But incredibly endearing and unbelievably effortless.
a whole load of hyperbole there.
......
From S H O O K M A G #4 :
The genius is back, holding the listener with his subtle musical charm and engaging keyboard trickery. While some may feel the album tracks hint more of promise rather than talent fulfilled, the sum of its parts devastate in an austere way. Clubland will be rocked to its foundations with the incredible “So Amazed” and be mesmerised by the sonic jewel of “On A Vibe”.
Soft vocals hold hands with jazz licks and Kaidi’s trademark frenetic keyboard style. This is a stunning album from an artist who for me, bar Robert Glasper, has no equal.
