Now, i generally see 'mp3 snippets' as a depressing symbol of musics demise . .
--- > seriously, and particularly concerning hiphop, do we ever give pieces of work the volume of listens they deserve? backlogged download manager and rss reader syndrome
However when Jay Electronica is involved, the rule gets somewhat relaxed.
Add this to that candyman snippet that literally has me defenseless. The man is playing with us.

Life As A Shorty
Fashawn got something nice about him so its good to see him getting some buzz. . . I think the album is all Exile produced, or possibly that was a dream. I'll be watching for it anyway.

EP with FlyLo/SuzieAnalogue supports. + something that sounds suspiciously like something dubstep.

Aesaunic EP
news of the next Hotflush Recordings release has arrived in the inbox. Label head, Scuba is the creator. A 5track EP with names that suggest the music is darker than it is.
I'm not a poet so I'm going to leave the description to the video above....

a nice article by the NYtimes photo blog on my long time favourite photographer Boogie. No need for any of us to come up with an arty quip or a haiku or anything like that - just flick photo to photo and let the reactions come naturally. As one of the comments says, maybe pay attention to where each photo is shot. NY, Belgrade, Naples - there is darkness everywhere.

Strings Detached EP
Blue Daisy is about to claim the fourth quarter with this EP. Out on Black Acre, a label I have the upmost respect for -
transitions smoothly between the sounds we know and those we don't.
'Wolf' is an incredible trip.
remember the name.

Pill again, painting a bleak picture of the ATL streets with help from Director Zach Wolfe. Can't wait for some more material, really an artist who i'd love to see in the studio with some big producers - no club tunes, just emotion and tales of the day to day.

Colours.

UStream's aren't just for pirating foootball matches. A lot of switched on producers are using them in a smart way to connect with listeners.
Ikonika played an amazing set late last night - with newbits from her forthcoming hyperdub album, bristol pieces, some exciting Greena and a new Mala piece.
details + download link @ dubstepforum
And however exciting this blossoming future dubstep/garage scene is, a lot of dj's are playing the same tracks in their sets. So I recommend this not only for the fact it was streamed live on Ustream, but also on the newness, and freshness of the tracks and selections.

rework/closer
2562/A Made Up Sound/Dave Huismans always comes with a distinctive brand of dub/techno. Always of great production quality but sometimes a little bit toooo Berlin for my liking. But this release is his first to really make make me sit up and search. Heard one of the sides (if i'm honest, still not sure which. .) on BenUFO/Shortstuff/Oneman (?) b2b on rinse one night and managed to find it listed on clone.nl after Ben graciously fielded my query.
I still can't really describe why I feel them so much more exciting than previous output - possibly the way they were used - possibly just a figment of my imagination.
See some details (soundclips) at clone, & decide for yourself -
on a sidenote, the mans got the moments factmix - and a surefire keeper.

oud&santur
The new jazzman release should go someway to awnsering some of my questions about the dr. and his apparent fascination with Persian and Middle Eastern culture. I really wish, and have been for a while, that he oneday documents some of his experiences in writing -
but naturally, i remain more than thankful for the chance to be exposed to the music.
the grainy videos on youtube have been a frequent stop over while flicking through the web over the last year.
be good just to watch the vinyl spinning. .
plenty more details over at Jazzman Records - first 50 orders are also getting a dvd of his various performances on Iranian TV over the years.

eventually ryan leslie's gonna run out of cliche romantic episodes to write about
but on current, previous and future form, he could write about the price of semi skimmed and i'd still bump it relentlessly.

Gold Fishes EP
It is not an exagerration when I say that I have been periodically hounding Elan Tamara for information ever since Gilles Peterson first played 'Oranges'. That should not only tell you about the state of my real life social life (lots of internet friends of course. . ), but it should, I hope, speak volumes about my high hopes for the girls talent.
The Gold Fishes EP is the debut - four track's lovingly pieced and packaged together by her and producer Kwes.
Limited to 200 physical copies - each one coming with a hand made (by Elan. .) A3 poster.
I'm not expecting you to go on my word. so check the samples. . and marvel.
where to get?
Sounds of the Universe have a minute amount of copies.
Rough Trade have a minute amount of copies.
Elan has the rest via Paypal. .
Itunes of course has the mp3 package.

Summer Sun
Exile- Summer Sun ( TAKE aka SWEATSON KLANK rmx) by TAKE
Exile's Radio is getting a series of re-rub treatments. Just I'm not sure who by yet.
All I know is Take A.K.A Sweatson Klank shot me this remix of Summer Sun and that it will feature on the release when the time comes. And that it's brutal. but beautiful.
