Whose Heard of Othello Woolf?

It's been a twelve months of great names.
Literally.
The dude Othello Woolf wasn't quite a stand out but still has one of those stand out names.
He might just make it a great one for himself in the next twelve.
So hear him out.
Peep game n have a peep at Hispace.

beauty from all angles.
I always try and look at 'r&b' in a different way to how it's presented in the charts.
but only as far as disecting the instrumental or plotting what hudmo beats i'd like to see chris brown ride.
thoughts and dreams that are knocked sideways into lameness by this.

Where The Wild Things Are

I have a thing for voices - nasally, gruff, gravelly, silky. Even girls with deep voices. Other guys don't like them. I hunt em. Where The Wild Things Are just happens to have some of the most distinct voices in hollyweird on a film reel. James Gandolfini? Check. Forrest Whittaker, the sound of sad broken wisdom? Check. Gruff, rough Mark Ruffalo? Come on now. Crazy.
In class they say one of the hardest things to do is to write from a kid's perspective. I think it's just as hard to show the world how a kid sees it. The famous book does just that. Spike Jonze does just that. This is very much a film about growing up, for kids and grown ups alike. It's surprisingly dark. It's also got an amazing soundtrack which was written by Jonze's ex-girlfriend, Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, with contributions from her bandmates and some members of The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather
Max Records is the coolest entertainment name ever. Max Records is the coolest entertainment boy ever. He might even win an Oscar. He should.
I abso-positively love this movie. It just might be my favourite of 09. One of my favourites ever. Where The Wild Things Are is where i'm at

BEKAWS
KAWS is an NY based artist most people know but just don't know that they do. This is the guy behind numerous magazine covers, BAPE adverts, and the artwork for The Clipse's latest offering - Till The Casket Drops.
A while back I came across this video highlighting the man, his work, and the streets. Street Art.
i-D recently chopped it up with him and released this video

BlakRoc

What do the Black Keys, Mos Def, RZA, Q-Tip, Billy Danze, Nicole Wray, and Jim Jones have in common? Talent. That and the fact that they've come together to form a new supergroup called BlakRoc. With a lil help from our favourite super mogul of the 2000s - Dame Dash
The album is actually out already and is pushing decent numbers but it's really all about the music. They hit the studio on some eleven artists, eleven days, one studio tip. And even had the courtesy to record it all for our viewing pleasure. There are, you guessed it, eleven webisodes and I'll be uploading them time to time. Enjoy.

I.D

Legendary windycity native NO I.D has got somethin bubbling with The Verve's very own Richard Ashcroft. Some may know I.D as the man behind the boards, pushing buttons for the very best of Common's work - I Used To Love H.E.R should ring a bell. I.D is generally hailed as Kanye's mentor and they both worked on Jay's DOA.
They've recorded 20 to 30 songs already. The project is as of yet untitled and might be droppin sometime round April.

first cousins
Young Rakim n Young Bob have had this is the works for a minute now. They dropped a snippet of a bomb on us with As We Enter left us fiending for a while. Ofcourse Juniour Gong first teamed up with Nasty Nas on the eerie Road To Zion but now theyve had us hungry stans salivating over their Distant Relatives album. Should be out round the top of twenty-ten. The hype machine is in full grind. First up the Distant Relatives Forum
They brought out some stellar names for this one - Rakim, Big Youth, Kool Herc, and DJ Red Alert. Just to name a few. The Forum looks at the cultures of HipHop and Reggae, their similarities and influences on the world. They discuss Africa and the origins of music. The V-Tech sponsored event was pretty live and a lot of heads came thru for this one.

down with the foreigners

'Forever changed' A Grammy nod can do that to you. Shout out to my big brother (not really related - just got love for dude), Little Brother's Phonte and flying Dutchman Nicolay, better known as Foreign Exchange.
After earning a nomination in the Best Urban/Alternative Performance category for the track "Daykeeper" featuring Muhsinah, theyre rapping and scratching on cloud nine. I have to say I've never been a fan of the Grammys, but I give em props for this cos, to me at least, the nomination shows theyre thinking outside the tv box.
Foreign Exchange are just not mainstream. But the flow is still serious. Congrats. Even if they don't win. Grammys boost sales. Grammys boost interest. Can you spell exposure? I guess theyve already won
They've even started circulating a lil video. Kinda like a thankyou speech. Don't hesitate to be far too kind. Watch.

I have to thank my dude for gettin me Shook. Not scared and full of trepidation and all. I mean the magazine. Each issue is like a lil tablet of art filled with pages taken right out of the imaginations of our Ipods. The folks over there never lie. SHK Winter 09/10 - they stay true to form..jpg)
The FUNK FACTORY Special sees a lil light being shed on a few names more than due their fifteen - Breakestra, Whitefields Brothers and Lefties Soul Connection. Just to name a few. They shoot the smoky cohiba breeze with Giles Peterson, and come up with a surprise for Nneka. Dope names. Dope read. Cop

Toro Zoro

I caught a bug this summer. A bug by the name of Toro Y Moi. I'm just gonna call dude Toro Zoro from now on. He's slicing em. Gimme some Suya and some Washed Out and that's a perfect day. Plus some Gulder. Luckily the two have combined forces for a nice lil remix and Toro Zoro's album - Causers Of This - drops February 2k10, parkin' lot pimpin on CarPark Records. All you bad ass worms in the Rotten Apple can also look forward to a tour sometime soon. Real soon.

My Bookshelf - Books 1 & 2
Every now and then I stumble across a book that defies my ADD and inspires the recluse in me. Books I absolutely want and recommend. These two just happen to be sprinkled with a lil bit of hippity-hip-hop-hop
Jonathan Lethem's book has got everything that speaks to me, and I guess for me - slaps of rap, graffiti, murmurings of racial tension and the colourful musical cultures of the 70s, 80s and 90s, with a lil bit of comic fanboy, set against the backdrop of BK, New York. Sweeeet.
Saul Williams is an alpha male. Devastatingly talented. Writer, MC, Spoken word artist, Army candy for Arm Candy (Miss Persia White), Actor, Poet. He is one of my favourite people hands down. Ever. With a title like said the shotgun to the head, he's got my ear
