French Kings of the re-issues, 'Heavenly Sweetness' have dug deep YET again to put me back into full blown nerd mode.
1978 and still absolutely kicks it against anything I have ever listened too in my lifetime. Indian percussionist Latif Khan lays the foundations for each track, with master trumpeter Don Cherry left to work all sorts of magic on top and in between. There's a certain amount of chemistry you can hear in these records that your normal re-issue is sometimes lacking. props must go to the heavenly sweetness team for that.
Gradually more and more experimental as the 5 tracks pass. . but still consistently mind blowing.
