Brownswood Loves Bass
By far the greatest club night ever to emerge from Shoreditch..
But honestly, the line up AND location should speak for themselves.
Apologies for my lack of service recently. . Currently away from home & working, so my use of a computer for leisure purposes is somewhat sporadic.

Jose James Update
Long time favourite, Jose James has been in touch with a round up of what he is up to these days. . So without any further ado..
For the Americans.. if your in the NY area over the weekend..be sure to check out Jose and Salazar over at the Baggott Inn. Jose on 9-10, with Alternatives Salazar in the slot after. .
Of course, for the rest of you.. particularly for the UK heads, the next time you can probably expect to see Jose do his thing (from memory) will be at Petersens WorldWide Awards on 5th January. Go hunt.
The album is just around the corner - 28th January. Brownswood's the label. 'The Dreamer' 's the title. However, theres plenty of vinyl floating around to keep you going until then. .
And look out for the following collaborations.. I'm very very excited by some of the names. .
Elan Mehler
Flying Lotus
Ben Westbeech
Marc Rapson
Nicola Conte
TK Wonder
Yellowtail
Ryan Anselmi
Keep supporting and make sure you pencil in the 28th to your diarys. ..

Skip all the singing, Lets get right tonight
The day is dragging. So heres some pointers..
Pitchfork has (had) a nice interview with Skepta regarding his up coming "Greatest Hits" project, due to drop at the start of next week. Skepta @ Pitchfork.
Over at Stones Throw, Madlibs interview with this weeks Newsweek issue is available here. Truly unbelievable talent.
Brownswood held the "Sunset Sessions" at QEH London, with Portico Quartet, Elan Mehler and Marcina Arnold.. Getting brilliant reviews. . One year anniversary celebrations will take place at "The End" (London), with sets from Westbeech, Peterson, Moodymann among others.. Not to be missed, of course i'l keep you posted.. It's not until October time.
Two new Westbeech remixes have also appeared for digital download - Aaron Ross and Frost/Wagner. See them here
Lastly on the Brownswood front - crooner Jose James highly anticipated album "The Dreamer" is pencilled in for a January release.
BBC Electric Proms is upon us again and the lineup is shaping up pretty nicely.. Post on that later.
Easy to have missed Kano's, 'London Town'.. which came out yesterday. Certainly my pick at the moment, and yes that is including Kanye and 50. Honest, the guy reminds me of a young Jay-z..
Soundtrack to the morning... Jay's Library. Completely and utterly timeless.

Westbeech goes Swing
From Brownswood site,
To celebrate our first birthday, we will be re-releasing Ben Westbeech's summer anthem, 'So Good Today', backed up by two new remixes on 7" vinyl; an infectiously upbeat reworking of the track by the Dap-Kings, and an acoustic version too!
Dapkings version is truly magic, get it on plastic or digital at Juno.

Music and Thinking are so Alike
Ben Westbeech. His album is one of the best things i've come across all year, and is constantly spinning with me. Recognised by Gilles Peterson, his single "So Good Today" was the first to be released on Brownswood Recordings (Petersons Own Label). . .
He can also be found in some pretty hot drum and bass tracks... See "Number One" and the Rockers Mix of "Get Closer" with producers Die & Clipz.. if thats your sound.
Well.. Here's his Annie Mac MiniMix.. and a highlight off the album...
MP3: Ben Westbeech - MiniMix (5 minutes (six here)..usual thing..)
MP3: Ben Westbeech - Get Silly
Previous B. Westbeech track.. (RIP) -- Here **** (Highly Highly Recommended)
You've now got to grab the album.. or for those of you who spin, get the vinyls for some smooth remixes. . @ Brownswood. Or Amazon for those of you a little less cultured.
Remixes = Domu/Osunlade/Karizma/Wahoo
And those of you into your new music.. funk/jazz/soul.. keep checking the brownswood site cause theres some outstanding acts coming out of there at the moment (Jose James..)
Other News, some of you mightve been lucky enough to see the Justice d.a.n.c.e video.. I have...woahh. I want those t-shirts.

SunriseSet
I don't really feel like talking today. New Junior Boys EP, titled "Dead Horse EP" landed with me yesterday. I played it through once, and now twice, and it doesn't disappoint. Particular favourite is the veteran Carl Craig's Remix of "Like A Child", a soothing 10 minute trip in which he slowly and classily builds, while draining more soul out of the song than I thought possible. Perfect to watch the sunrise too, and sure to be the a focal point in many sunrise sets this summer.
Make sure you cop the EP - featuring remixes from HOT CHIP, marsen jules, kode9 and Tensnake. Get junior boys stuff here and check their myspace here.
MP3: Junior Boys - Like A Child (Carl Craig Remix)
This week I also came across toronto hiphop/reggae/r&b/soul artist K-OS (pronounced kaos). His latest album titled "Atlantis: Hyms of Disco" is a complete mix of any sound remotely urban, and while not all of it struck the right chords with me, it was well worth some of the gems i came across. See what you think, posting, probably my favourite track off the album, "The Rain". Get his album here.
(No idea why its underlining my text now, but i'l continue)
Check his myspace here
MP3: K-OS - The Rain
Lastly, a track ive loved since its release in 2006. British artist Ben Westbeech, who I will champion until I die, can do no wrong, sounding uniquely soulful yet never a cliche, as this track proves.
Check his myspace here. Purchase his songs here.
MP3: Ben Westbeech - So good Today
Im also super happy because the new maximo park album is currently in my headphones.
Enjoy Your Day, and let me know what you like.
